This is a brief introduction to the Astrology of the Turning of the Ages – TOTAMS Astrology – as taught by Daniel Giamario.
It is specifically designed to provide valuable information about your first Astrology session.

A. Preparation for the Session
The TOTAMS (Turning of the Ages Mystery School) approach to Astrology aims to help each of us gain a clearer understanding of who we are and to connect with our life purpose in a personal and meaningful way.
Through astrology readings, the goal is not to predict the future but to provide various tools to foster awareness and take responsibility for our decisions, allowing us to live from our true essence.
This astrology is based on the principle of “as above, so below”—the idea that the cycles and patterns of the planets reflect what we experience internally, not because they cause it, but because they function synchronously, happening simultaneously.
Therefore, the idea is to understand these synchronicities in order to view our lives with greater clarity and take ownership of our own story.
The “Symphony Movements” or The “Script” of our Life
In this type of astrology, we view the natal chart as a “SYMPHONY” of three movements or as a “SCRIPT” that describes the energetic blueprint of our life..
These three movements or parts of the script are:
➢ the LINEAGE
➢ the TOOLS or EQUIPMENT
➢ the CURRENT LIFE INTENTION or PURPOSE

A.1. The Lineage
The “Lineage” represents the first movement in our “life symphony” and is associated with the Moon in our natal chart.
The Moon is our Essence, our origin, where we come from, our DNA, our ancestral history, our past.
The idea is that when we are born, we are not a “blank slate”; rather, we arrive with a set of beliefs, patterns, addictions, strengths, and abilities.
Although this lunar lineage is a strong foundation and an essential part of who we are, it is not enough to fully fulfill our current life purpose: it is only the starting point, not the final destination.
A.2. Second Movement: Tools and Equipment
The second part of the life script is our “tools or equipment”—the energies we have at our disposal to move forward and reach our final destination.
These tools are reflected in four planets and their corresponding archetypes: the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars.
Venus and Mars represent the feminine and masculine aspects of our experience; Mercury symbolizes how we perceive the world, how we understand it, think, and communicate; and the Sun is the Great Mystery, the “fuel” or energy that activates and energizes us

Transition: Jupiter

Jupiter It is like a bridge between our tools and our destiny, that is, our life purpose: it is the archetypal energy that takes us where we need and want to go.
A.3. Third Movement: Current Life Intent or Purpose
The third part of the script focuses on the angles of the chart, which are four: the Ascendant, the Descendant, the Midheaven, and the IC. Each one is associated with a “project” we intend to accomplish in our life, and together they form our current life purpose
The Ascendant, the most important angle, symbolizes our new “Personal Identity,” our new essence.
The Descendant speaks to us about the “Relationship Project” and reflects what we seek and offer in our closest and horizontal relationships (e.g., with a partner, friends, coworkers).

The Midheaven, for its part, is associated with the “Right Livelihood Project and our Contribution to the World,” that is, our career and vocation, and the way in which we can feel happiest and most fulfilled in our profession.
Finally, the IC (Imum Coeli or Bottom of the Sky) represents the “Home and Roots Project,” and refers not only to our physical home (our house) but also to our emotional security and sense of belonging.
B. The Strategy to get to the Current Life Purpose or Intent

In astrology, we talk about “inner” and “outer” planets, and each group plays a different role in our life.
The inner planets — the Sun, Venus, Mars, and Mercury — are closer to Earth and reflect essential and more personal aspects of our identity.
The outer planets — Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Chiron, and the Lunar Nodes — are farther away and are interpreted as a “development strategy” (or “initiation”) that guides us on the journey from our Lineage to our Destiny.
A unique concept in TOTAMS is the “astrological cycles” that form part of the “Shamanic Timeline.” These are cycles that we all go through at certain ages, showing us when it is a good time to “do” and when it is a good time to “pause.” By understanding which stage we are in, we save ourselves unnecessary effort and align much better with the natural flow of life and our own individual path.
